From Market Booths to a Nationwide Art Brand

Wow...Katie Jo Art has completely exploded, and I’m honestly so grateful. When I started this business, I never imagined it would grow the way it has. What began as a few one-day markets, just trying to get my name out there, has turned into something so much bigger than I ever expected.

Back then, I was hauling my little setup to local shows, hoping people would stop by my booth. Now, I do multi-day markets that not only bring in sales but also give me the chance to meet so many amazing customers in person. Markets will always hold a special place in my heart. There’s nothing like seeing someone light up when they find the piece that speaks to them. It always makes me laugh when people circle my booth for 30 minutes, trying to decide on just one (which, honestly, makes my heart so happy). Those little moments remind me why I started in the first place.

Over time, Katie Jo Art has grown far beyond the market scene. I now ship orders all over the country, and my art is carried in hundreds of boutiques nationwide. It’s wild to think about how much has changed. I also just hit 10,000 followers on Instagram (still can’t believe that!) and recently graduated from Utah State with my marketing degree. It’s been such a whirlwind, but I’m so proud of how far things have come.

Even as my business has grown, one thing has never changed: my inspiration from interior design. I’ve always been drawn to creating pieces that feel collected. Art that elevates a home without overpowering it. My goal has always been to make pieces that are ready to style, with frames that feel intentional and timeless. I love it when the art and the frame complement each other perfectly, creating something that feels special, elevated, and complete.

I’ve also really come to realize how important it is to invest in pieces that mean something to you. There’s such a difference between mass-produced wall art and art created by local, small artists. Handmade art brings a sense of warmth and individuality that you just can’t replicate. It tells a story. It makes your space feel like you!

One of the questions I hear most often is, “I love this piece, but I’m not sure where I would put it!” And my answer is always the same: if you love it, you’ll find a place for it. When you buy art that truly speaks to you, it never goes out of style. But when you buy something just because it’s trendy, you’ll eventually tire of it and want to replace it. That cycle creates overconsumption and, in my opinion, takes the joy out of decorating.

So my biggest piece of advice? Buy what you love. Support artists who pour their hearts into their work. Fill your home with pieces that feel personal and lasting, not just popular. Because when you surround yourself with things you love, your space becomes a reflection of YOU and that’s something that will never go out of style.

I’m so grateful for everyone who’s supported me along the way. Whether you’ve stopped by my booth, ordered online, or just followed along. You’re a huge part of this journey.

With love,
Katie Jo
